Payroll Officer (6 month contract)

Location: Newlands, Cape Town

Salary: Market related
Duration: 12 month contract

Play a vital role in keeping payroll precise and people supported in a purpose-driven energy organisation.

Is this you?

You’re detail-obsessed, discreet, and always a few steps ahead of a deadline. Known for your accuracy and reliability, you handle sensitive payroll data with integrity. You’re great at explaining complex payroll issues in simple terms and thrive when collaborating across HR and Finance teams. You’re not just a doer—you spot inefficiencies and enjoy improving systems to make work smoother for everyone involved.

What you’ll be doing (and why you’ll enjoy it)

You’ll process payroll for around 240 employees, ensuring everything from new hires to terminations and tax deductions are managed accurately and on time. You’ll be the go-to person for payroll queries, reconciling data, preparing reports, and ensuring compliance with legislation. You’ll collaborate with third-party providers and internal teams to maintain seamless payroll operations. There’s also room to drive improvements and implement smarter, more automated processes that enhance efficiency and support business integrity.

Where you’ll be doing it

Our client is a global force in renewable energy, with operations spanning over 25 countries. With ambitious sustainability goals, they’re developing cutting-edge projects in wind, solar, hydro, and energy storage—making a tangible difference in Southern Africa and beyond. Their culture is growth-focused, collaborative, and grounded in strong values. You’ll be part of a team that’s committed to progress, people, and the planet.

What you’ll need

You hold a diploma or degree in HR, Finance, or a related field, along with SAPA certification and payroll processing training. With 2–4 years of payroll administration experience—preferably in a mid-to-large organisation—you’re proficient in systems like Payspace, Sage, or VIP, and advanced in Excel. You understand South African tax and labour laws, have audit experience, and thrive in hybrid work environments. Experience with international payroll or multi-country compliance is a bonus.

What you’ll get

Join a globally recognised energy innovator on a 6-month contract starting January 2026. You’ll gain exposure to cross-border operations, hybrid flexibility, and an organisation that values accuracy, innovation, and professional development.
