Senior WordPress Technical Consultant

Location: South Africa

Salary: Market related
Duration: ad hoc contract

Lead a high-impact WordPress optimisation project with long-term platform potential.

Is this you?

You’re a senior WordPress specialist who thinks architecturally, not just operationally. Independent, disciplined and solutions-driven, you take pride in building clean, scalable technical foundations. You enjoy deep-dive audits, performance optimisation and creating structured environments that support future growth. Clear communication comes naturally to you, and you thrive working directly with decision-makers in an SME setting.

What you’ll be doing (and why you’ll enjoy it)

You’ll take ownership of a structured audit and optimisation phase focused on strengthening an existing WordPress environment. This includes improving Core Web Vitals and Lighthouse scores, rationalising plugins, refining caching and hosting configurations (LiteSpeed advantageous), reviewing Elementor architecture for scalability, optimising media handling (including video performance), and providing technical SEO alignment. This is not a rebuild, but a strategic clean-up and stabilisation project requiring deep technical expertise and architectural foresight to prepare for future expansion into scalable training and learning platforms.

Where you’ll be doing it

Our client is a Germany-based consulting and training organisation specialising in AI enablement, governance and regulatory-aligned education. They operate at the intersection of emerging AI standards and practical business implementation, supporting SMEs navigating evolving international compliance frameworks. The culture is thoughtful, structured and future-focused, with strong emphasis on technical excellence and long-term scalability.

What you’ll need

You bring 8+ years’ WordPress experience as an independent senior freelancer, with advanced performance optimisation skills beyond standard plugin configurations. Strong Elementor expertise, architectural stack discipline, and SME exposure are essential. Clear English communication is required (German advantageous). Exposure to LMS ecosystems, SCORM/xAPI standards, scalable content-heavy builds, and video optimisation concepts will be highly beneficial for future phases.

What you’ll get

A paid Phase 1 engagement serving as a structured trial, with strong potential for ongoing collaboration across future platform expansion phases. Full remote flexibility and the opportunity to shape the technical foundation of a growing AI-focused learning ecosystem.
