Job Hopping

Job hopping…

Still a red flag? It depends.

The workplace has evolved – and so has the way we view career movement.

Ten years at one company used to be a badge of honour.

Today, many professionals change roles every 2 to 3 years, especially in fast-paced industries like tech.

But while job hopping isn’t the automatic red flag it once was, it’s also not a free pass.

Too many short stints without clear progression can still raise eyebrows.

Especially if they suggest instability or a pattern of disengagement.

The key is context and communication.

If your CV includes a few quick stops, be ready to answer:
🔸 Were you seeking growth or new challenges?
🔸 Did you leave for contract roles or project-based work with set end dates?
🔸 Were you realigning your career toward something more focused or sustainable?
🔸 Can you clearly show value added in each role — even the short ones?

Employers today value agility, but they also want commitment, consistency, and a clear narrative.

Show that each move was intentional, and that you left with new skills and stronger direction.

Jumping around without purpose is still risky.

But changing jobs with intention?

That’s smart career strategy.
